Expectations
Attendance
Scholars are expected to come to every after-school session (twice a week on Mondays/Wednesdays or Tuesdays/Thursdays depending on the schedule) and Saturday Academy. If a Scholar is going to be absent, please call or text us at 215.301.6503 or tell us in person. If a Scholar’s attendance drops below 75%, he/she may have to give up his/her spot in the program. Please communicate if Scholar will have ongoing trouble making weekday or Saturday Academy sessions.
BE Great Behavior and Effort Point System
The Lindy Scholars Program uses a daily point system called BE Great to measure each Scholar's behavior and effort. Each day, the Scholar's Advisor gives a score between 0 (terrible behavior and/or effort) and 3 (outstanding behavior and/or effort). Scholars are immediately awarded 3 Scholar Dollars for 3 points, 1 Scholar Dollar for 2 points and 0 Scholar Dollars for a 1 or 0 points. . If a Scholar continually struggles to earn BE Great Points, a “BE Great Performance Plan” will be used to clearly set expectations and goals. If a Scholar's behavior and effort don’t improve, he/she may be suspended or removed from the program.
Behavior Expectations
Scholars are expected to be respectful of adults and peers, keep hands to themselves, use positive language, listen, follow instructions, etc.The Lindy Scholars Program has a "3 Strike Policy." Phone calls home are made with each strike given. If a Scholar accumulates 3 strikes in a term, he/she will be given a suspension to last 5 program days (approximately 2 weeks). If a Scholar earns an additional 3 strikes after a 5 program day suspension, he/she will be given a 10 program day suspension. If 3 additional strikes are given after the 10 day suspension, the Scholar will be expelled from the program. Note that some behaviors (ie- fighting) will result in multiple strikes or immediate suspension/expulsion. At the end of each term, Scholars who have 0 strikes and excellent attendance and BE Great Points will be invited to a special party! The strikes reset after each term to give Scholars a chance to earn an invite to the next party.
